Philips Norelco 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2D Electric Shaver Review

Philips only has two shavers in Norelco SensoTouch 2D product line. Philips Norelco 1150x/40 is one of them and is the cheapest of them. The other shaver in the product line is Philips Norelco 1160XCC SensoTouch 2D which comes with a jet clean system.

Design

Philips Norelco 1150x in handNorelco 1150x/40 has a foil finish, same as 1160xcc. It’s stylish and shaped to perfectly fit in hand. Apart from the material and LED indicators, design is pretty much similar to other shavers in SensoTouch product line, whether it’s 3D or 2D. You’ll feel it very comfortable to hold while shaving. It’ll improve your overall shaving experience. It has the look and feel of a most expensive Philips Norelco shavers like 1290x/40 and 1250x/40.

Performance

The 1150x/40 shaver is very good at what it does. There are no critical issues to report. It’ll give you an extremely close shave with minimum effort and in fewer strokes. It uses exactly the same shaving technique as 1160x and offers everything that 1160x offers. But it’s almost half of the price of 1160x. The shaver is also bundled with Philips exclusive features like Lift&Cut, AquaTec and many others. I’ll get to it shortly.

The only downside I see in 1150x/40 is its shaving time (battery life) is slightly shorter than the other shavers in the family. In fact it’s the one with shortest shaving time of 40 minutes of shaving and 14 days of standby. 40 minutes shaving time is still enough for more than one week of shaving even if you shave daily. It’s not fair to compare 1150x with other shavers considering the huge difference in price. I’m glad Philips cut battery life rather than cutting features like AquaTec or DualPrecision.

Features

1150x/40 offers lots of features for such a low price. Philips has developed various features over the years to protect your skin from irritations while give maximum shave possible. You’ll find most of them in 1150x as well. Below are the features that I consider important for a shaver.

  • GyroFlex 2D – Adjusts to the contours of your face
  • AquaTec – Shave wet or dry
  • DualPrecision – Takes care of normal hairs and shortest stubble
  • Super Lift&Cut – Provides the closest shave by cutting hair below skin level
  • SkinGlide – Prevents irritation by sliding smoothly along the skin

You’ll never have to worry about safety of your skin or left over stubble. Philips Norelco 1150x/40 takes care of them all. Nothing is more important than safety of skin when it comes to shaving. Philips Norelco knows it and they give high priority to it. You’ll be safe with any shaver in the Philips Norelco family.

Feedback

Nothing is more promising than hearing from people who actually use shaver in their day-to-day life. Best place to find these reviews is from a retailer site. I went ahead to Amazon.com check what people are saying about it. There were more than 700 customer reviews on Amazon. That explains how popular Norelco 1150x/40 in the market. It had 4 out of 5 ratings which is extremely good considering numbers of feedback left. Most consumers are very happy with it. I’m sure you’ll be too. Below are some quotes from Amazon reviews section.

The shaver is backed by a 2 year manufactures warranty. If you encounter any production issues within 2 years, just call Philips and they will take care of it. You are very unlikely to experience something like that. Philips Norelco 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2D Electric Razor will last way more than 2 year without giving issues.
