I have seen some disgusting pictures on TV last Monday during DLF IPL match between Mumbai Indians & Deccan Chargers. On the 13th over of first innings, Harbhajan Singh & Munaf Patel showed the world what kind of gentlemen they are.
First of all I need to mention that Munaf Patel performed exceptionally well in that match. Mainly his balling & Rohit Sharma’s fabulous knock led MI to the victory. But at the 12.3 ball of the Deccan Chargers innings, Munaf has destroyed his image in world cricket. Munaf & Harbhajan are members of Indian National team. We all know that there are very serious issues with Indian National Cricket team’s discipline. They are very aggressive in nature. Like how Virat Kholi celebrate when he get a century. I mean who is he angry with, Himself? Opposite team? Umpires? or GOD? It is a pleasure to watch him batting. But when he celebrates, yikes!
And Harbhajan, There’s a popular story on bhaaji slapping Sreesanth on DLF IPL 2008. And he did it in front of thousands of fans, In middle of a cricket ground. Not in a change room or somewhere else. I think that’s enough for us to understand bhaaji’s mindset & background. This particular incident in IPL 2012 shows that his attitude hasn’t changed a bit over the past years. And it won’t in the future. But he stills the captain of MI. What a shame! The last thing I want to see is bhaaji slapping an umpire. He nearly did it last Monday. So did Munaf. He nearly punched umpire in his face. They have no respect to umpires or world class batsman like Sangakkara. Both should at least ban for 5 games. I won’t be writing this if a fair action was taken against those players. 25% of a match fee & a warning is nothing for an international player. Munaf will not hesitate to do this again. Wicket of someone like Sanga is worth much more than 25% of a match fee or a warning. As he or bhaaji doesn’t seems to be have shame at all.
So what really went wrong there? Check below video.
[youtube id=”m4hyrrzsD7c” width=”620″ height=”360″]Honestly, umpires got it wrong. They should have referred that decision to the third umpire. But they didn’t, They made decision on field. And it supposed to be final according to rules. Both Bhaaji & Munaf seems to agree to it at the first. But then they show replay on big screen. Which shows that Sanga dragged ball to his stumps. Sanga has no idea about it. It all happened very quickly behind him. He could have started walking if he knows what happened. I don’t think I must give examples of what kind of player he is. So after kissing Sanga’s right stump, Ball went to hit Dinesh Karthik’s (Wicket Keeper) pads & bounce back immediately to wicket. So any of umpires didn’t notice that ball hit wicket before hitting Karthik’s pads. Munaf himself was not so sure about it at the first. So one can’t really blame the umpires. But I admit they got it wrong. This is not the first time umpire got a decision wrong. On every other occasion, Umpire’s decision was the final. But this time it changed. Bhaaji & Munaf got it changed. And IPL approved it by not taking necessary action. However I think that MISTAKES are what cricket is all about, mistakes of ballers, mistakes of batsmen, mistakes of fielders & mistakes of umpires keeps the energy of this game.
